Fleet Authority

In Business Since 1991

When the opportunity arose to provide repair and maintenance service for the Reston Connector metro feeder bus system in 1991, Fleet Authority was formed. Located initially in only 1,500-square foot warehouse in Merrifield, Fleet Authority opened its doors offering service almost exclusively to that bus company.

However, Phil Jones the founder, was a native Northern Virginian and a mechanic with 22 years of experience already and therefore an established following of customers. Soon, Fleet Authority offered services to the general public. Shortly after opening the doors to the public additional operational space was needed.

In 1994, Fleet Authority relocated to central Fairfax City expanding to a 4,700-square foot facility equipped to handle up to and including light- and medium-duty commercial vehicles.

In 2024 we are excited to have expanded and joined forces with Gainesville Garage in Gainesville, VA. We have a 14-foot bay door entrance and more Technicians and space to serve your fleet needs. We offer a complete array of services. Pretty much we can fix anything you need. Get in touch with us today.

Phil Jones, Manager and Lead Tech

Phil has been repairing vehicles for more than 45 years. He always wanted to be a mechanic. He took vocational automotive classes at Chantilly High School and auto courses at NOVA Community College. He has turned wrenches at various independent repair shops in the Northern Virginia area for years before opening Fleet Authority.

This history provided valuable experience as a master technician specializing in bus and truck repairs. Eventually, he transitioned into shop management. He has handled repairs on several major transit systems including Fastran, the Connector Bus, and TRIPS. Phil was inducted into the AUTOMOTIVE HALL OF FAME by the Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the Automotive Service Industry Association (ASIA) on April 03, 1990. This designation is bestowed upon only those mechanics who are the best of the best and earned him the designation of "World Class Technician."

At one point, Phil was certified in literally every ASE designation that existed. He is considered both a MASTER TRUCK and MASTER AUTOMOBILE technician. He has been a Virginia State Safety Inspector for over 38 years. The Better Business Bureau invited him to serve as a technical expert during arbitration and court cases between disgruntled consumers and other independent shops. If you bring your vehicle to Fleet Authority for repairs, rest assured that quality service will be provided. Phil has high standards for the repairs performed at Fleet Authority. It doesn't leave the shop without his stamp of satisfaction and approval.  Call (571) 755-1384 to schedule an appointment today.
